Pin Me

broochLooking to add an extra sparkle to your outfit? Brooches can put a finishing touch of glamour to any outfit, fancy or casual. Wear one to church on Sunday or dinner with the girls on Thursday. There are many different kinds of brooches; the vintage look, rhinestones and pearls and ones with different color flowers. A brooch is probably one of the most versatile jewels a woman can own; they have no limit.

Tips:

  • – Add sparkle to your coat by pinning one on your collar
  • – Add flare to your scarf
  • – Jazz up your black handbag
  • – Pin one on your belt
  • – Stick one in your hair for a glamorous look
  • – Pin one to a chain and wear it as a pendant necklace
  • – Hook one to a thin plain ring and now you have a cocktail ring
  • – If your dress or shirt is too big, use the brooch to hold it together

Daydreams&Fairytales

Spring is a time for growth and new beginnings, but more importantly springtime encompasses all things whimsical and magic.  Therefore it comes as no surprise that some of the hottest colors and trends for spring are reminiscent of childhood daydreams and fairytales (I’m thinking ballerinas, princesses, and fairies frolicking about with woodland creatures).

margot_fonteyn3To capture the romance and coyness of spring try wearing a tutu in the palest of pinks with a simple top in cream or if you’re feeling a bit more Avril Lavigne than Margot Fonteyn pair your tutu with a graphic tee, leggings, and converses, maybe even throw on a long strand of pearls as a careless but classic afterthought.

Take the essence and mystique of an enchanted forest everywhere you go by pairing a dove gray and baby pink flower necklace with a white teewww.bijuju.com and jeans or try a glittering cocktail ring to remind you that there is indeed a touch of magic in everything.

Just remember this spring is more about frosted pastels, glittering whites, sparkling silvers, and muted grays than candy colored confections because while we all may enjoy cupcakes we want to avoid looking like one no matter how decadent they may be.  And please, please no baby doll tees with the word “Princess” rhinestoned across the front. : )

Be fierce, flirty, and fabulous!

Stay warm while looking absolutely fabulous

Scarves are my latest obsession.  It is the perfect way to stay warm while  looking absolutely fabulous.  I love that by Colorful Spring Scarfwrapping them differently takes on a different look.  My personal favorite is to double the scarf up and pull it thru the loop during the winter months.  With spring right around the corner, I am on the look out for bright colors such as yellows and baby blues for that pop of color.  It is a great way to add to your outfit without taking on all the extra layers.  Stop by Bijuju.com and check out their inventory and stock up for spring.  It is right around the corner.

Loving that ROCKER CHIC look

Rocker Chic Metal and Crystal BraceletCuffs, Bangles and Bracelets are all the rage right now.  If you are looking for a way to dress up your outfit without spending a ton of money, arm candy is the accessory of the moment.  Silver, gold, antique, vintage and my personal favorite–leather with embellishments–are the must have of the season…..  Layer them or mix/match them, whatever your choice, you will stand out in the crowd.  Me, I like the skinny jeans, colorful tank and leather cuff for my night out.  Right now, I am loving that ROCKER CHIC look.

Fabulous shades

Black and Rhinestone SunglassesThere is nothing better than on a beautiful sunny day having an awesome lunch at a restaurant’s outdoor patio with the girls.  Reaching into your purse and pulling out a fabulous pair of sunglasses in between sipping your pink cosmo and catching up from the week.  My personal favorite is my solid black with rhinestones.  They add a kick to my casual attire of skinny jeans, tee shirt,  pony tail and boots.  If you are going for more color check out the new “fabulous shades” at Bijuju.com.  They are sure to compliment any outfit and add a bit of trend to your spring  wardrobe.

Want to turn some heads???

Vintage Necklace

Atlanta is definitely a city on the cutting edge of fashion.  On any given day, a walk through downtown will make you feel as if you have entered into a runway of new trends.  The most fabulous thing going on right now is the “multiple strand metallic necklaces”.   When adding these to your outfit, it is the ONLY accessory you need.  They are such an eye catcher even when thrown on with a simple tee shirt during the daytime hours…..or when evening rolls around, add it to a plunging neckline.

I am all about the Vintage chains, however, they come in textured, multi-colored stone, silver and gold.   If you really feeling daring and want to turns some heads go for the multiple stranded jeweled, and you will be sure to make a statement.

Americana!

Americana kind of sounds like it should be soft drink, like the lame cousin of Fresca. However, it’s projected to be quite a trend for spring 2010. Chloe and Ralph Lauren both debuted Americana-inspired collections at NYFW; lots of denim and muted floral prints. The best way to wear this trend would be perhaps an oversized denim shirt tucked into cute, plaid shorts with your favorite cowboy boots; add a long, pendent necklace with vintage-embellishments and a fringed bag to complete the look.  Or try a muted floral tunic cinched at the waist with a distressed leather belt. For the non-committal types, a floral scarf with your favorite white tee and baby blue-jeans is a great way to slowly embrace this trend. Newsboy hats, cornflower blue apparel or accessories, and vests that can go from day to night, make this a casual and comfortable trend to try.

Life is too long

I hear it all the time.   People are always saying life is too short.  Live it to the max.  Do not waste time.  Tell the ones you love how much they mean to you.  You hear these things all the times, but we still take people for granted.  We still put off following our dreams till tomorrow, or one day.  We don’t tell the people we love, how much they mean to us.  The problem is not that life is too short, it is that life is too long.

If we knew that we were going to die really soon and that our life was really short, we would live life like we think it should be lived.  However, we know, or at least we expect to live a long time.  We don’t believe that we are going to die today, but someday when we get old.  Therefore, it is the belief that we are going to be around for a while that makes us complacent and makes it easier to procrastinate.  It is the knowing that we will probably grow old and live a long life that keeps us from seizing the moment now.

Therefore, in my opinion life is too long, not too short.  How amazing would it be if everyone lived like today was their last day, every day for their entire long life?

Don’t wait for that one day.  Seize the moment now.  Be daring.  Dare to dream and then follow that dream.  Do it now.

Slow Dance

Have you ever watched kids

on a merry go round?

Or listened to the rain

slapping on the ground?

Ever followed a butterfly’s erratic flight?

Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?

You’d better slow down.

Don’t dance so fast.

Time is short.

The music won’t last.

Do you run through each day

on the fly?

When you ask “How are you?”

Do you hear the reply?

When the day is done

Do you lie in your bed

With the next hundred chores

Running through your head?

You’d better slow down

Don’t dance so fast

Time is short.

The music won’t last.

Ever told you child,

“We’ll do it tomorrow.”?

And in your haste,

Not see his sorrow?

Ever lost touch,

Let a good friendship die

Cause you never had time

To call and say “Hi”?

You’d better slow down.

Don’t dance so fast.

Time is short.

The music won’t last.

When you run so fast to get somewhere,

You miss half the fun of getting there.

When you worry and hurry through your day,

It is like an unopened gift,

Thrown away.

Life is not a race.

Do take it slower,

Hear the music

Before the song is over.
