Americana kind of sounds like it should be soft drink, like the lame cousin of Fresca. However, it’s projected to be quite a trend for spring 2010. Chloe and Ralph Lauren both debuted Americana-inspired collections at NYFW; lots of denim and muted floral prints. The best way to wear this trend would be perhaps an oversized denim shirt tucked into cute, plaid shorts with your favorite cowboy boots; add a long, pendent necklace with vintage-embellishments and a fringed bag to complete the look. Or try a muted floral tunic cinched at the waist with a distressed leather belt. For the non-committal types, a floral scarf with your favorite white tee and baby blue-jeans is a great way to slowly embrace this trend. Newsboy hats, cornflower blue apparel or accessories, and vests that can go from day to night, make this a casual and comfortable trend to try.
Nautical trends are ubiquitous with Spring/Summer. The navy blue and crisp white stripes with canary yellow accents will pay homage to a well advertised Chanel line this season. Imagine how fresh and so clean, clean a bias-cut, tunic style, frock would look nipped in at the waist with a bold, yellow belt. Or how about a pair of gold, anchor earrings to provide the perfect amount of kitsch on a day you’re feeling whimsical? A rope bracelet in a bronzed or antiqued gold would provide a nice contrast to a feminine dress and just the right amount of trend-setting for a busy day at the office. A little black dress can easily be taken to sea with a gold or silver necklace featuring rope accents. Channel your inner pirate with a plaid, triangle scarf taken straight from Fall 2009. No matter what route you take, the nautical trends this Spring are sure to make you want to scream “I’m on a boat!”
GET BOLD– Bracelets featuring vintage baubles bring an air of whimsy to any ensemble; immediately modernizing it.
BE BEAUTIFUL– The best thing about this season’s arm candy is their transformative ability. An oversized, pewter bracelet featuring a vintage elephant emblem provides a whimsical edge to the distressed leather jackets and riding boots of fall. The 80’s and 90’s are back in a big way, again this fall, and rather than doing the same old accessories, these floral, zipper bracelets modernize the grunge revival pieces those decades encompassed.
Ruffles are huge for fall again, so picture a super girly dress with one of these rocker chic, studded, faux leather bracelets to add texture. These super comfortable bracelets are easily stacked to create a sassy cuff. Perfect for day or night with a plain top.
